Religion

Poet – Jessica Duggal

The religion you talk,

Is not the religion, I talk.

The religion you preach,

Is not the religion, I preach.

A religion that separates a mother from her blood

A religion, that growls and robs everyone,

robs us from our sanctity and sanity.

A religion that draws lines

Lines between lands, rivers

Brothers and sisters

Is not a religion, we need.

Was never a religion that was written in the golden books

With the ink of peace.

The religion you talk,

Is not the religion, I talk.

The religion you preach,

Is not the religion, I preach.

A religion, that is frantic.

Addicted to pride for being superior

Addicted to the idea of being perfect

While it is far away from grains of justice

A religion that is hungry

Voraciously grubbing on sentimentality

A religion that persuades

Not with words, but with swords

Is not a religion we need,

Was never a religion that my grandmother taught me.

The religion you talk,

Is not the religion, I talk.

It’s ‘your’ religion

Not ‘ours’

The religion you pry on

Is not a religion anymore

Riding on the Satan’s back

Crushing the white souls

Kneeling the Jesus in everyone on crosses

Is not the religion we need,

Was never a religion that Allah, Guru Nanak, Krishna, Buddha preached

The religion you talk,

Is not the religion, I talk.

A religion that constricts one identity

A religion that sells a woman’s dignity

A religion that resonates with hounding wars

A religion that summons the deathly hour

A religion that craves on conventional ideas

A religion, that stops us completely.

Is not a religion we need.
