The Gist of The 88th Academy Awards

The 88th Academy Awards that i.e the Oscars 2016 was held today at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.

This year, the show was hosted by actor-comedian Chris Rocks. This is his second time hosting the Oscars, after doing it earlier in 2005.

The Highlights of the Show:

  • Leonardo di Caprio won an Oscar for the ‘Best Actor’ for the movie ‘The Revenant’. Everyone in the theatre was ecstatic that he finally won it! Kate Winslet’s heart was filled with joy and pride as Leo gave  his staggering acceptance speech.
  • Lady Gaga gave a knock-down performance on “Till It Happens To You” which is based on campus rape. Het performance was introduced by Vice President Joe Biden. The best part of the performance was that she held hands with the survivors of the sexual abuse.
  • The entire cast of the movie ‘Spotlight’ accepted the Oscar for the ‘Best Picture’!
  • Brie Larson received the Oscar for the ‘Best Actress’ for the movie ‘Room’ from Oscar nominee and actor Eddie Redmayne.
  • Young actors Jacob Tremblay and Abraham Attah presented the Oscar for ‘Best Live Action Short Film.’
  • Ladies drooled over these “Best Dressed Men of The Oscars 2016”.


  • Guys, now it’s your turn! Here are the “Best Dressed Women of The Oscars 2016”.


  • The movie ‘The Revenant’ had the most number of nominations- 10 and won 3 Oscars.
  • ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ bagged the maximum number of Oscars this year! Six along with a total of 10 nominations.
