Poet – Priyanjana Das
I don’t really know if he was worth the wait
This wait, this patience that continues, ripping apart all the rocky doubts in its path.
That big boulder of hope does not shatter though.
It has been a long time,
As long as it takes to forget the reason of me being patient.
As long as it takes to reduce the fine smile lines on his face to the mere outlines on my sketch book.
As long as it takes to grow out of the man hole of fear that i made for myself.
As hard as it was to not shed a tear while writing this.
As strong as the woman made, writing this
As tranquil as the lapping waters on the lake.
As much as it takes to grow!
It has been that long…
Yet, I’m not carrying a baggage of expectation,
Just sands of hope that will soon run out of my fingers
If i hold on to them any tighter…
Yes, it has been long enough,
But not tiring, not dreary
Only anticipation lines the curves of the eyebrows.
Yes, it has been long
But wasn’t it meant to be?
Afterlife is usually quite
Why not read letters from me?
